WHAT ABOUT SILICON ?I musn't forget to speak about silicon - wink.
Silicon can also make - silicate gel or, one step beyond = aerogel.
The mixing of sodium hydroxide and slicate produce - ( silicate gel )
Most know what this is, porus gel packs found in your shoe boxes or in containers that depend on low moisture - aerogels acts as moisture absorbants.
I have seen a few videos on the making of water glass and hydrogen is produced.
Now.. what might accelerate a hydrogen off gassing would most likely be - using nano silicates.
But.. what to do with the silicate gel ?
If heated carefully, and moisture content is extracted, if co2 is introduced into the mixure it will
create - areogel.
What could aerogel be good for - you ask ? Insulation purposes.
It is said, aerogel has the highest insulating characteristics.
I can't hel pbut think of twinning this with , plywood substrate.
Or... subsitute drywall lime and replace with areogel.
Each are massive markets.
Wonder what type of insulating R value one could amass from, areogels ?
Making energy is one thing.
Silicate reaction could extrapolate a portion of hydrogen in the process.
But.... what's so remarkable with this aerogel is, the other side of the story, energy conservation.
How much energy could be saved using a superior insulating material such as, aerogels in substrates or replacing drywall, or interior cavity of home walls ?
Here's an article explaining all the valued properties of, areogel.
Great read.
https://www.nasa.gov/topics/technology/features/aerogels.html As one can see....
there are so many potentials for silicon, silicates, and in former posts, magnesium.
But... wil lthe junior choose the correct path, or will dictation from reosurce and energy managers supercede / wink.
Cheers.....
