Didn't work did it.

One of the few times that I have seen "sell on the news" not work. Stock had a strong day. A lot of accumulation mid day, but came back to end the day at its high for the day. Suspect we had a few shorts covering, but mid day there were still some brokers trying to force it down. Didn't work.

Today was lock in day, you ditch it you lose the 5c per share coming on the 15th. Nice strategic timing in my opinion.

Expect Tuesday to be red, as the flippers head over to another producer that hasn't reported yet.

Cardinal Energy Ltd. ("Cardinal" or the "Company") (TSX: CJ) confirms that our July dividend of $0.05 per common share will be paid on August 15, 2022 to shareholders of record on July 29, 2022.

Don't know if you are intentionally trying to mislead this board, but I suspect you are. Yesterday someone claimed to hold over $350,000 in the stock but was posting what I consider negative comments about the stock. Who would do that and put your holding in danger? No one that I know.
Those buying the stock today don't get the dividend. Check with your broker to see if I am wrong. This stock IMO is way under valued.  It should continue up next week. I expect a lot of upgrades. At any rate most buying are not in it for one five cent dividend payment, they are in it for a significant long term gain.

"The ex-dividend date for stocks is
usually set one business day before the record date. If you purchase a stock on its ex-dividend date or after, you will not receive the next dividend payment. Instead, the seller gets the dividend. If you purchase before the ex-dividend date, you get the dividend."

You're way off on this man.  To be a shareholder of record you have to own shares 2 days before report date (so July 27).   You can turn around and sell the next morning and still get paid.

As for moving on to another play, shareholders had all day today to do that and it still closed on the daily high after a juicy gain.   While CJ may be due for a bit of a selloff at some point next week, it won't be huge in my opinion.  Educated investors know what's coming.

Way Off ? That's right from the site ?

Now I am aware to always be in 2 days before and after. But  you assumed I didn't know that just like I'm sure we can both agree many others don't.  Which to my point, (uneducated) traders may be following the published date (today) to lock and stay in, explaining the last minute run up to the high of the day.

Ex-dividend date was yesterday.   If you owned shares at the close on Wednesday, you get the dividend.   If you sold yesterday or today, you still get the dividend.   If you bought after Wednesday, NO DIVVY FOR YOU!

So today's action was not driven by those wanting to get the dividend.

Thanks Woke, I'm starting to get the hang of playing the stock market.
So how much will I get this time?

Last month I didn't have as much in Cardinal, bummer really.
