Gross misstatement. Criminal, really. Look, in the first place that is not true. For some people it is deadly, even with triple vaccination and NO comorbidities. So there's that. Secondly, it's great that the complete and quick recovery rate is so high but the transmissibility makes it likely to be just as much a killer, usually of the compromised or unvaccinated, as previous variant waves. IT'S ALL ABOUT HOSPITAL/MEDICAL SERVICES BEING OVERRUN. That is driving the decisions. If the wave subsides the restrictions will be summarily lifted.

I completely agree that these are acts of desperation and firing a shotgun at a mosquito. But they want to make sure they get the mosquito. And maybe they won't.
