The smarter approach by Cyrus IMO would have been to have the company announce a Substantial Issuer Bid (SIB), at a value less than they deem fair market value. Cyrus would have then been >50% after SIB and then they could have made a move to take the whole company private.. after the fact, they could then have sold off any North American business and retained PNG..

... but nobody called them smart..
