Take over

On June 6th, i wrote on the RFP and on the CFP board that something was going on with
Resolut forest. At that time i was guessing that it could be Canfor.

I was wrong on the buyer but Resolut did get takenout.

Now what i find strange is the way Canfor is using it's NCIB.If you look at their pouchases, they were
buying EVERY SINGLE DAY for about 1.14 million$ and then completely stop after June 30th.

They paid higher price in May and June then the actual SP.

My question is are these guys at Canfor that dumb?.Who knows, some poster thinks so.

But it may be that they are in negociation for a big deal and are keeping all their cash.

Time will tell but IFP would be a great fit for Canfor.

Let's not forget that Interfor does not have any major controlling investor. The biggest shareholder is Pictet with 6.4%

WFG bought Norbord.Who is the majority shareholder of WFG:Jimmy with 9%
and Jimmy is the controlling investor of Canfor with 51%

These deals take weeks if not months.

I am quit confided that IFP will be taken out before year end if the SP stays that low.

Housing price that is coming down is a good thing. There is a huge lack of housing in Canada
and in the USA. and lumber producers knows that

Houses will have to be build big time over the next 5 years. This cycle is not over yet.

Yes, it is temporarely being slowed down by higher interest but it will eventually need
to go back up again.

@lifeisgood1010.  I agree with your thinking.  I believe under SEDI's rules, an insider has to report any purchases/sales within 5 days of the transaction, unless an exemption is granted.  I understand that companies who are the issuer can get an exemption to report the previous month's transactions no later than 10 days following the end of the next month.  So Canfor ...more

Canfor is quite cheap at the moment though. They have approximately $14 per share in cash meaning the market is only valuing its facilities at just over $10. Maybe their BC assets are worthless but their us south, Alberta and Europe gotta be worth more that $10. That the Don Kayne market discount I guess.

Good morning Apaulson, I agree with most of your saying. You are correct on the reporting dates of NCIB. While they could wait until august 10th to report, Canfor reports on a weekly basis. I used to be a CFP shareholders and wrote to IR to find out. They replied that it was on a weekly basis and i did follow their reporting and it was the way they reported. IFP is by far my largest stock ...more
