Don't hold your breath....

Don't hold your breath.......waiting for the US & Canada  to approve new regs.

However the statement...."New tank cars built after October 1, 2015 will have to be built to the new final standard."

"Existing tank cars will have to be retrofitted to meet the new standard (except for the top fittings protection) under the following time guidelines:

  1. Legacy DOT 111 tank cars are not authorized for Packing Group I after October 1, 2017.
  2. Legacy DOT 111 tank cars are not authorized for Packing Group II after October 1, 2018.
  3. Legacy DOT 111 tank cars are not authorized for Packing Group III after October 1, 2020."
TSB doesn't have the power to force gov't to act on safety/regulatory concerns or violations.

A consultant for rail safety says the gov't (FEDERAL) has gone too soft on industry (in the past) & the gov't record on acting on any safety/regulatory concerns from the TSB is nothing to write home about.

And an election is coming the same old excuse that was used again today to delay the decision on whether to buy the Lockheed F35 Fighter jet.

Also the news that their patent application for the BOV has been accepted will help support  KLS until regs come in & provide some additional income as well as RR putting in orders ahead of the regs becominglaw.
