I'm afraid I disagree with how you present your argument, but there is nothing odd about changing course. Every effort is ranked by priority. These must change over time based on evolving circumstances. Beaton's Creek was priority no. 1 when it was acquired, and for good reason. Things have changed. That's just business; it does not mean that BC and the mill will not have value in the future.
