Q: Other than higher interest rates, is there a reason why the US housing REITS such as Tricon Residential or BSR REIT have been so weak of late?
Other than rates, investors seem worried about the economy grinding to a halt, which may impact property values of real estate companies. The economy IS likely slowing, but with 11M jobs open in the US and 1M in Canada, it is hard to envision a real disaster here. (5iResearch)
