Alarming rhetoric

Alarming rhetoricI watch a UK programme called Question Time. It is a BBC show that visits various locations and has a panel made up of politicians a journalist and other noted individuals, who take questions of concern to the audience of  concerned locals.
The Labour Party panelists invariably respond to questions about the percieved ills in the UK (which are many!) that they will solve them by levying a windfall tax against energy companies. This usually results in raptuous applause from the audience.
It is alarming that politicians seek to absolve themselves of blame for mismanaging their economy by singling out as the scapegoat the energy companies. Regrettably, this rhetoric is contagious and does not bode well for holders of shares in companies like Vermillion et al. O tempra O mores.
