That was the price of the stock when the options were granted. If he exercised before he has to it is not "smart" as alwayswrong suggests because he'll have to pay taxes same year. Options that are that deep in the money get exercised when you HAVE to, ie they are expiring. That wud be "smart". Spelling intended.
