Your broker cannot lend your shares without your permission... If your broker is lending your shares to short sellers it is because you gave them permission to do so when you opened your account.

Not true. In order to short a stock, you need to have enough money to cover in case the stock moves higher and the brokerage requires you to cover. There also needs to be stock available ...more

Shorts cannot borrow your shares without your permission. They can't just take your shares, you have to agree to lend them. Your market order serves no purpose here
