ST. CATHARINES, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - March 21, 2007) - Currie (TSX VENTURE:CUI - News) is pleased to announce the results of a 17 hole "scout" Reverse Circulation (RC) drilling programme completed by Barrick last quarter. The drilling successfully tested a number of VTEM geophysical anomalies and historic geochemical anomalies.
Highlights
JBRRC002 - 20 metres grading 0.94 g/t gold from 175 metres and including
4 metres grading 3.94 g/t gold from 181 metres,
JBRRC007 - 7 meters grading 2.9 g/t gold from surface and including
2 metres grading 7.8 g/t gold from 5 metres and
22 metres grading 1.35 g/t gold from 121 metres
Two holes (JBRRC007 and JRRC008) were drilled at the Panapendeza prospect confirming previous Rotary Air Blast (RAB) drilling whilst drilling at the Tembo prospect (JBRRC002-JBRRC004) identified broad low grade gold mineralisation highlighted by an intercept of 4 metres grading 3.94 g/t gold (Table 1). A map showing the prospect locations can be viewed at www.currierose.com
The Jubilee Reef Project is located the Siga Hills region of the Lake Victoria Gold Field in Tanzania. The Project area is the host for the first gold mine (1898) in Tanzania known as the Augusta Victoria and lies approximately 35km south of the Barrick owned Bulyanhulu Gold Mine.

Previous Exploration by Sub-Sahara Resources NL identified 6 prospective targets at Jubilee Reef. In all cases, successful geochemistry techniques have been followed by Rotary Air Blast (RAB) drilling and the recent Barrick initiative has confirmed 3 of these areas with co-incident airborne geophysics and RC drilling.
Historic peak RAB drilling intercepts include:
- 19 metres grading 3.96 g/t gold from 26 metres at Panapendeza
- 28 metres grading 2.94 g/t gold from surface at Shangaza
- 12 metres grading 1.43 g/t gold from 16 metres at Masabi &
- 8 metres grading 1.33 g/t gold from 14 metres at Sungura.
Management remains confident that the Jubilee Project has the potential to host significant gold resources and look forward to further exploration activity by Barrick at the conclusion of the wet season.
