If Alcoa buys Alcan, all the majors decisions will be taken in New York. The Montreal office will be a sub or regional office and all employee's who will want to move up in the ladder will sooner or later have to more to New York to get the type of job there looking for. A few years ago, Loblaws purchased Provigo. I'm pretty sure that many of top jobs at the old Provigo head offices are now in Ontario.
