RE: goose is back

RE: goose is backThere are two very prolific diamond mines in Canada at present: Ekati (found by Chuck Fipke) and Diavik (owned by Aber). They are near each other, as shown on the following map (both on the shores of Lac de Gras): There was a close staking rush happening at the time Chuck was frantically picking up as many claims as he possibly could, after having found the huge quantities of indicator minerals at Point Lake (Misery Point). As stated in Barren Lands, pg 306: Jennings and DeBeers were close behind....Leni Keogh decided she liked Lac de Gras because of the fine, sandy beaches along the esker system. She took quite a few samples. The land was so huge that she never noticed any of Chuck's stakes. In early Sept she landed just outside the claim lines, across the Lac de Gras-Lac du Sauvage narrows from Misery Point. There she found another curving esker beach, much like the one at Norm's Camp (Fipke's camp)." She too found abundant indicator minerals on the beach of a circular-shaped lake (a pipe). They managed to stake that ground, which later became the very rich Diavik mine. Goose and I are just trying to sort out whether my comment about the Cr-Diopside being found at Misery Point was Aber's (Diavik) or Fipke's (Ekati) mine. I believe it was infact the Ekati mine.
