RE: FIR''''s final offer / Union''''s responseThanks for that post, Tim. If the union is smart they will negotiate until labour day and consider going out then. The companies are all well prepared for a strike at this time. They have cleared our their log sorts, towed most of their inventory to fresh water, etc. They basically have their "ducks in a row". We are just moving into the heat of summer and will likely face fire hazard shutdowns in the woods. Loggers can then collect EI while the log inventories are used up by the sawmills. Come labour day they will be hungry for logs, and prices are more likely to be up. September to November is the busiest time in the woods. There is always more to do than can possibly be completed before it snows in the hills. That is when a walk out would have greater impact.
