To Joe991 - about those ''other'' colours

To Joe991 - about those ''other'' colours"the colours of the stones they don't bother mentioning are presumed to be the less valuable cloudy, occluded, boartish dirty shades of grey, brown, black etc" From the nr: "The colour of 45 percent of the diamonds has been classified as white, with a further 17 percent classified as off-white. The four largest stones are: 6.31, 3.21, 1.83 and 1.60 carats respectively. Two diamonds exceed two carats and 10 diamonds exceed one carat, of which one is white, 4 are grey, 4 are brown and one is yellow." We do not know the colour/clarity of these diamonds. If they were fancy and clear and high quality, would they announce it in a news release? Or would they hold that information back, like an ace up the sleeve, to pull out during negotiations? Who knows, but I would bet that the high quality browns/greys etc. exist at FALC and are not all borts. Look where the trend might be going these days. People are bored with all those glittery white diamonds: Globes Truly Golden Dramatic jewelry lit up the red carpet at the Golden Globes last night and the most successful looks were truly golden. After years of diamond-intensive bling, this year’s best jewelry styles showed texture and unusual gold work (in addition to diamonds, of course). The trend was best captured by the suites worn by Angelina Jolie, Beyonce, and Jennifer Lopez. Angelina Jolie wore an unusual vintage Indian-style suite by Bochic in 22k gold set with rose-cut diamonds. Beyonce wore fancy colored diamonds in unusual shades surrounded by gold, all by designer Lorraine Schwartz: a natural multi-colored diamond and old ivory bangle; earrings with 40 carats of diamonds in unusual colors; and a grey, yellow and white diamond right hand ring. Grey & Orange Ring Grey and Orange Diamond Ring from the De Beers High Jewelry collection. A selection of rare white and unique fancy colored diamonds cluster set in platinum. Total carat weight 11.15. Hot Chocolate: Fall Fashions Favor Cocoa-Colored Gems Brownish diamonds, such as the crystals and round brilliants shown here, are commonly produced and marketed as "cognac" or "champagne" diamonds. Whenever you purchase a diamond, it is recommended to ask for a GIA Diamond Grading Report. Chocolate has found its way to the necks, arms, hands, and bodices of fashion runway models. According to experts at GIA, educator to the global gem and jewelry industry, gemstones with warm, brown tones are heating up. Droves of fashionistas are dipping into this latest cocoa-colored fashion trend for fall. The world’s most influential designers in couture apparel and jewelry agree. Many have built their fall fashion menus around shades of brown—from the most delicate caramels and mochas to the darkest chocolates and coffees. The latest fashion shows in Paris echo the earthy color movement. John Galliano at Christian Dior sent out a crocodile coat with matching hat and lace-up boots in deep brown. Missoni mixed it up with an oversized, abstract floral print in black, white, and shades of brown. In jewelry, the selection of chocolate-colored stones is vast, and GIA’s gemstone experts point out a number of choices. For the ultimate in russet glamour, think diamonds. Brown diamonds. There are plenty on earth, says GIA, creator of the International Diamond Grading System and the Four Cs of diamonds. A lightly tinted brown diamond, often marketed as a “champagne” diamond, or a darker “cognac” diamond, can accentuate fall’s warm-toned flavors. The pear-shaped fancy to Fancy Dark Yellow-Brown diamond weighing approximately 27.25 carats, within an openwork platinum mounting accented with 186 small round diamonds weighing approximately 3.80 carats. Accompanied by GIA report no. 11859872 stating that the diamond is Fancy to Fancy Dark Yellow-Brown, Natural Color. Estimate: $70,000 to $90,000. The ring sold for $113,525 US.
