Rambus won a patent infringement lawsuitNow that U.S. chip design firm Rambus won a patent infringement lawsuit against three semiconductor manufacturers, the firm will seek an injunction to force companies to stop making memory chips that use its technology. But Hynix Semiconductor, South Korea's second-biggest memory chip maker, vowed on Thursday to appeal the eventual court ruling.
But that didn't stop Rambus' shareholders from celebrating, sending Rambus' shares soaring 6.8%, or $1.76, to $24.10 at the close on Thursday.
On Wednesday a federal jury ruled in favor of Rambus in its seven-year-long patent infringement lawsuit against one U.S. and two Asian semiconductor manufacturers.
Hynix issued a statement: "We will confront [the verdict] with all legal options, including an appeal at a high court once a final court ruling is made," according to the Yonhap News agency in Seoul.
This high shares went in Feb of 2007 and 24 looks like a resistance on the chart.
