Well said Gerry (about speculators vs investors).
I'm a speculator. Sometimes I hold stocks for months (rarely for years), but more often, for weeks or days. I don't see anything negative about speculation, shorting (even though I don't short) or investing. They are all part of the financial markets*. Speculators increase volume (making it easier to trade), narrow bid/ask gap, etc... Inverstors provide stability, support undervalued stocks, etc...
Besides, if the whole purpose is to buy low and then sell at a higher price, a week, a year or 10 years later, the way I see it: we are all speculators.
Lastly, I think that everyone buying shares should have basic knowledge of technical trading, like what's an uptrend and a downtrend (don't buy falling knives etc...). Also, every speculator should know about value investing.
As for SVU, I think it looks good fundamentally and technically (see graph below). That's why I didn't sell so far for a quick profit (I'm in in the 60 cents).
