CALGARY — — Anglo Potash Ltd. [AGP-X] has agreed to be taken over by BHP Billiton Diamonds [BHP-N]Inc. in a deal that values the Saskatchewan-focused exploration and development company at $284-million.

Theprice in the agreement announced Monday is $8.15 per share in cash, a34 per cent premium on Friday's closing price of $6.07, which was upfrom the $2 level a year ago.

Anglo Potash'sboard has unanimously approved the acquisition, which is expected toclose in July and carries a $10-million break fee if an outside bidprevails.
