Very true.  And Bombardier is making great progress on that.  But somehow a "green aircraft" seems like an oxymoron.  At some point in the future we will run out of oil and we won't be able to burn fossil fuel in aircraft.  I guess the big question is whether could design planes that burn hydrogen (which can be produced with hydro or solar power).  If not, then it will be trains or ships.
