Not sure what to make of em..!

Not sure what to make of em..!

Well been here a long time and there wasnt much if any activity here, after the tech crash in 2002 it sat at around 3 something for a few years then it bounced in 2006 to around 60 and slowly drifted down.  Dispite unprecedented earnings over the last few year the share price has continued to drift down.  I suspect the hedges have been accummulating large blocks and continue to acquire as about 80% is held by about 10 or so.  It didnt seem to matter if the news was good or bad it continued down.  Of course you gotta wonder why.  A few years ago CIBC did a bought deal and they added 6M shares which raised a whole whack of cash and took $6 bucks off thier share price they have been sitting on that cash for awhile and continued to have great earnings.

They rolled out HSDPA in Cannes France and alot of people were scratching thier heads on that one but now it appears there may have been a method in thier madness.  They pretty much platformed HSDPA and now its been labelled 3G so its pretty much the defacto standard.  They provide products for both CDMA and TDMA networks and have balanced that very well.  I suspect that the wireless providers will be moving to GSM type networks which support HDPA going forward and they resolve at what is now 4G stuff.  So they make wireless cards for CDMA stuff via license from Qualcomm I think and not sure who they license the HSDPA stuff with, maybe wavecom ?.

Don't follow tech that much anymore things were just getting exciting when the recession hit but saw AT&T hiring 5000 and Telus announced moving to GSM and spending 500M on infrastructure.  The threat was the new WiMex or 802.16e stuff.  Big problem with that is it was designed for unlicensed spectrum and if you put it up you become the access point for all of the unlicensed wifi spots for about 20 miles.  Then there is good old Inuckshuk which was described as near wimex and it get sold to a company in US called NextNet and good old Motorola comes in and buys em so think you wont see wimex up until the smoke clears and there is a way to commecialize unlicensed spectrum. Else move it into licensed spectrum which may be a result of the digital tv move in US which will clear those frequencies and generate a trillion bucks or so at frequency auctions.

Sorry  my time line is only approximate.  In any event the company has always been good and earnings awesome.  Dispite competition yada yada.  The buy out of wavecom is either the end or the beginning I believe and I would have thought just sit on your cash and ride out this storm but there must be some value in Wavecom who knows all we can do is ride it out in hopes of someday buying my boat..  My bet is I get my boat if not this year maybe next.

I know I am just going to get the pumper slam from you know who but like who cares been holding a long time and here till the fat lady sings..

Good luck all ...!!!   Live long and prosper.. I still got my WJA
