Response from JenniferHi everyone, thought I would post for everyone....
Hello Jennifer,
I was just looking back at the news release from October 27th,2008 where it was stated the Bioniche had received full approval for the Econiche product. I was hoping that you could provide some information on how things are going with this product. For example; how much product has been sold to date? Who is buying? How many vaccines are being produced each month? Is the product gaining traction with the beef industry? How are things going with the conditional licensing in the States? Etc.
Any information would be appreciated,
Thanks,
Hello
Sorry for the delay in responding.
We are progressing very well in terms of awareness of, and interest in, the vaccine. In terms of doses sold, the progress is modest.
To explain, the profile of the Bioniche vaccine in Canada is very good. Awareness among the industry, cattle producers, meat companies and government is very high. Not only did Bioniche appear before the federal parliamentary committee on food safety to recommend proactive food safety measures, but we were also granted an appearance before the federal finance committee to justify consideration in the national budget for funds to encourage wider adoption of this technology.
Customers to date primarily fall into two categories: “Identity preserved premium beef” producers; and exhibit animal owners. We are actively collaborating with several large customers to help them obtain government funding to vaccinate large numbers of cattle. Many cattlemen would like to use the vaccine, yet cannot sustain another input cost. The continued media coverage of human illness due to this organism helps to ensure that government support will be forthcoming.
In reference to the U.S. market, we have made significant progress toward our conditional license. Pilot serials have now been manufactured in the U.S., which was required. Dialogue is ongoing to finalize this process, and we have several indicators that adoption may be more robust in the U.S. once we have the conditional license in hand. The influence of the provision within American law of “strict liability without fault” is a significant driver in that marketplace.
I hope this is helpful.
Sincerely.
Jennifer
