Total Confirms Bidding For Two Oilfields In Iraq

PARIS (Dow Jones)--A Total SA (TOT) spokesman confirmed Wednesdaythe French oil major is bidding for two oilfields in Iraq, Majnoon andWest Quran-2, as part of a second round of auctions.

Earlier Wednesday, Iraqi President Jalal Talabani told businessleaders in Paris he wants to see Total working in his country'soilfields.

"We're clearly satisfied. Total wishes to develop a long-term partnership in Iraq," a spokeswoman for the company added.

The deadline for the second round of Iraqi oil fields auctions is Dec. 11 to Dec. 12.
