RE: RE: jim cramerpipeline hope the year is progressing well for you :)
the company is focusing its PR/IR attention on bay street, but a call is ALWAYS more effective then an email.
in regards to first solar, i dont care if they sell 1 billion down from 2 billion, that means we still have to tackle that 1billion in sales. The price IS NOT THE SAME for thin vs thick solar. First solar is cheaper then anyone else, plus the eff of the cells are increasing, and consider the GW of production coming on line, from players such as Sharp, Signet, ect.
Cramer OBVIUOSLY has a short position on the firm, and is working his majic to profit from the falling shareprice.
How do you think many governments are trying to actually get out the recession, by investing in green energy projects, such as ontario, 7 billion to samsung alone, plus the worlds most attractive solar incentives. So what is he talking about ?
I would love to have a head to head with him on solar power, I would put his loud mouth to shame.
And what about "grid parity" the point were solar power becomes as cheap as the existing electricity. 2011 solar power will be at grid parity, with NO INCENTIVES required in Italy, the first nation expected to hit grid parity. Electricity rates are flying high, while solar power cost is dropping off the face of the planet, so the government subsides will not be required much longer.
Solar is not a question in europe, but a way of life, Europeans are subdued to the hand of russia and the flow of natural gas into the euro zone, and the recent cut of supply to Ukraine was a seriuos eye opener, plus the activities in Georgia a few years ago. Today every new building must provide a significant portion of thier own power, and 27 euro zone countries now have their own feed in tarrifs. 27 Nations, representing hundreds of millions of people, not one nation but 27 euro zone nations.
2010 will be tough year for solar cell/panel firms, but up until a month ago, their was a shortage of inverters in Germany, so the inverter market will do just fine.. hence sustainables share price is up hundreds of percent over the past year alone, and ranked on the TSXV top 50 firms.
