What you are doing wrong is that you don't know how copper deposits are valued. They are worth much less than
the LME price. As a rough guide, use 3-5 cents per pound of copper. That is what a major mining company, which is the only realistic buyer, would pay for it. With 10 billion pounds of copper, that should make the buy out price 3-500 million dollars, which is still huge. And the deposit might be larger than that.
