RE: Senate panel backs patent overhaul billThis bill seems to favour Wi-Lan in my opinion.  Based on this article, it would limit the cases involving  'minor patents' and cases involving 'business methods'.  I don't think Wi-Lan's patents (at least the ones litigated on up until now) fall into either of these piles.  Less cases means that the more important cases (ie. Wi-Lan's) will procede much faster.  Also, allowing judges more power to rule on the patents' importance to a product should speed things up.

Based on the content of the article it's hard to see why 'massive settlements' are not still going to be awarded if this bill passes into law.
