SS3 I spent most of the 90's moving my rrsp money into a spousal.  Quite the headache but if it needs doing you have to.  I know alot of people (my dad included) who got burned by not making the spousal the main rrsp.  Course this only makes sense if you make more than your wife and your pension plan is better.  That might not be the case in alot of the younger marriages these days but it is in mine.  My poor dad pays so much to the govt its a crime.  He would have been better off never having one and using the money when he was younger.  I deal with two banks and have been with my "financial planner" for both in the last month.  OMG if that is the type of person helping people these days - god help them.  Self directed all the way!!  Better yet get some financial smarts and LEARN!!!!!!!!!!!!
