Two thoughts about the increase

First much of the increase was for exploration and future production

Secondly and not to be overlooked is that the values are quoted in $US.  From 2009 - 2010, I estimate that the $US went down by at least 10% averaged over the entire year against the $C.  If Russian currency followed Canadian, then 10% of the increase or $50 is simply the lower $US effect.
