RE: RE: REE's, China and the WTOMy first comment would be that if China is forced to open up export of REE without quota, it would be the end of Molycorp.
China has oversupply of Lanthanum and Cerium and the quota system keeps those prices 5-10x higher internationally compared to China.
Our small markets terbium and dysprosium are about 1.5% of the REE tonnage and we the prices are not higher in China compared to the rest of the world, actually the opposite if we look at the lagging export price as discussed before.
Key to understand is that world supply of REEs Lanthanum and Cerium are enough and heading towards oversupply while world supply of Dysprosium and Terbium are in a deficit. It DOES NOT HELP IF CHINA REMOVES QUOTA when China has no more of these metals to export anyway...
You must make an effort to understand the difference between these two groups of metals to understand any WTO effect.
