Happy Creek Exploring Seven Properties

14:00 EST Wednesday, Aug 31, 2011

(via Thenewswire.ca)

August 31, 2011 - Vancouver, British Columbia - Happy Creek Minerals Ltd. (TSX-V: HPY, the "Company") is pleased to provide a general update on exploration completed or in progress on seven of its mineral properties.

Highland Valley Properties

The Company owns a 100% interest in approximately 145 square kilometres of mineral claims that adjoin Teck's Highland Valley copper mine property. On the Rateria property, diamond drilling is defining and expanding copper mineralization in Zone 1, and testing new targets. Approximately 600 metres west of Zone 1, encouraging bornite, chalcocite and chalcopyrite (copper sulphides) were located that are thought to be an extension of Teck's Yubet prospect. Geological mapping, stream sediment and rock sampling was recently completed on its West Valley property. In addition, Happy Creek has recently acquired an option to earn a 100% interest in the BX property (refer to News Release dated June 6, 2011). The BX property is approximately 11.5 square kilometres in area, adjoins Teck's Highland Valley Copper mine property and is approximately six kilometres from the past producing Bethlehem deposits, the first copper mine in the camp. The BX property is thought to provide the Company with another quality copper target. Geological mapping is completed and approximately 23 kilometres of three dimensional induced polarization (3D IP) and magnetic geophysical surveys are currently underway. Permits are received and drilling is planned for the BX property later in the fall.

Cariboo Properties

Fox

The Company has commenced a diamond drilling program on its 100% owned Fox tungsten-molybdenum property, located approximately 30 kilometres east of the former Boss Mountain molybdenum mine. The current focus of drilling is on the Ridley Creek trenches (refer to News Release dated August 15, 2011). Two holes have been completed with both intersecting scheelite (ore of tungsten) bearing skarn and calc silicates within a few metres below bedrock surface; these holes indicate the zone exposed in trench RT-1 continues and appears to be gently dipping (sub-horizontal) in orientation. In addition, prospecting and stream sediment sampling approximately two kilometres south of the Ridley Creek zone has located a new showing containing significant sphalerite (zinc sulphide) and scheelite. This new showing is thought to be an important addition within the area containing tungsten at surface. On the Fox property, positive tungsten and molybdenum occur in drill core, rock, soil and stream sediment in an area approximately 10 kilometres by 3 kilometres in dimension. Prospecting has also located new showings containing molybdenite and kilometre scale quartz vein swarms hosted in a monzogranite, similar in age to the Boss Mountain mine, and situated within a large area of positive molybdenum in soil.

Silverboss

Happy Creek has a 100% interest in approximately 150 square kilometres of mineral claims surrounding the former Boss mountain molybdenum mine (Xstrata Plc). Newmont Mining Corp. has recently Optioned one of the Company's properties and acquired claims that adjoin the Silverboss property (refer to News Release dated July 20th 2011).

David Blann, President of Happy Creek states: "On the Silverboss, we have already identified positive copper, molybdenum and gold in soil and rock samples covering several large areas. These positive results remain open in extent and we have been expanding our surveys to the north and west. We are also conducting reconnaissance prospecting and geochemical surveys in previously unexplored areas. There are positive airborne magnetic, radiometric geophysical results and positive copper and gold in stream sediment samples that are being investigated. With Gold Fields, Newmont and Xstrata nearby, we are covering the property thoroughly."

Hen and Art-DL

The 100% owned Hen and Art-DL properties are adjoining and are located southeast of the Silverboss property. The Company is completing prospecting and a systematic soil geochemical survey covering recently discovered outcrops of copper and molybdenum on the Hen as well as expanding surveys over the sediment hosted gold-silver Art-DL property.

Results are pending from the Company's on-going 2011 comprehensive exploration that will provide a considerable amount of new information. All properties are located in proximity to existing mines and excellent infrastructure in south central British Columbia.

On behalf of the Board of Directors,

"David E Blann"
