A win, win situation..........
A win, win situation..........It's a known fact that without QIA's (Qikiqtani Inuit Assoc.)
blessing ; there never will be a mine at Roche Bay.
For those of you who are unaware; QIA is a NON PROFIT
organization for the protection and promotion of Inuit
rights and values. AEI needs to get their good will if there
ever is going to be a mine.
This first week of December 2011; QIA is having an election
for the President's position. There are 3 candidates for the
seat and all are on their own when on the campaign trail .
Air travel is the only means of transportation to the dozen or
so Hamlets of the riding and most expensive; way beyond
the means of the average candidate.
As mentioned in a pervious post ;a lot of air mile points are
generated by AEI personnel and not used under Aeroplan or
a "frequent flyer program". ie; I for one never applied when
asked. I'm assuming there are a lot more who never bothered
applying since we all travelled on AEI's dime. Imagine at least
4 round trips from Hall Beach to point of hire for approx. 30
men a few women. Some from overseas when I was there;
ie; New Zealand, South Africa to name 2.
Anyway you get the drift, a heck of a pile of air miles are available
from which more mileage could be gotten for AEI by transfereing
these points to a charitable organization like the QIA and get a
tax credit to boot!
Ever watch Dragon's Den on tv? Dragon Lady Arelene Dickison
uses air mile points in leu of cash money to gain percentage in
business she is interested investing in.
