Women in power in Nunavut..........

Women in power in Nunavut..........Okalik Eegeesiak has been re-elected as QIA president. with 36%
of the vote,. Her first priority will be to settle the Inuit Impact & Benifits
agreement with Baffin Iron Mines.

An interesting fact is that all the major political positions in Nunavut
are held by women. ie:

-Member of Parliment for Nunavut -Leona Aklukark ( Minister of Health)
-Premiere of Nunavut G'ovt- Eva Aariak
-President of  Nunavut Tunngavik- Cathy Toutongie ( she is the one who
fed the seal heart to Governor General  Micheal Jean
-Mayor of Iqaluit - Madeline Redfern and once again
-President of  QIA- Okalik Eegeesiak.

Okalik ( Rabbit) I assumed was a guy; but actually is a woman; got
36%  of the vote, George somebody got 34% and Paul Quassa ended
a very close 3rd with 30 %.

Watch out for all this women power in the Territory. It's going to be inter-
esting what happens in the next few years.
