RE: Something has to be up.... The VCA lands at Dodlands lies adjacent to Compass lands (buyout by Whitecap WCP) which closes on February 9th. This is a new core for Whitecap and would expect additional acquisition to build this core area.
The new WSX is definitely a possibility and would be a great team to take over these assets, however their transaction closes mid March. It is difficult to do additional deals while you are in the middle of being acquired, not impossible but difficult.
The other player is RPL whose lands are very close to VCA's Sask lands and their stock price has appreciated quite a bit over the last month so they have strong paper and the I banker's following.
The movement in VCA stock is most likely the takeover chatter associated by these companies and their need for additional assets in the greater Dodsland area.
