Correction - We did NOT create the housing bubble by giving AAA ratings to trash; we are NOT responsible for bubbles just because we blow them.

 

INTEREST - Quote from page 80 of "The Unconscious Civilization" by John Ralston Saul

The tendency has been both to drop that qualifying clause - "in great measure" -  and to use the remainder of the phrase out of context in order to suggest that the public good is a fiction and that self-interest must rule. Self-interest, it is suggested, is best served by the marketplace.
