LinkedIn set to introduce mobile advertising
11 Feb, 2012, 2241 hrs IST, ANI
LONDON: Business-related social networking site LinkedIn has planned to introduce mobile advertising through its apps across the Apple's and Android's operating systems.

Jeff Weiner, the chief executive of LinkedIn, said that the company was now ready to "start to introduce advertising in our mobile solutions".

Weiner, however, gave no indication of timing for launching mobile ads.

The news comes soon after social networking giant Facebook announced that it would introduce mobile adverts as soon as next month, The Telegraph reports.

Both LinkedIn and Facebook, will have to tread carefully in how they implement adverts on their apps, as they could incur the wrath of users if they are too invasive.

Meanwhile, Weiner said mobile was an area of investment focus for the company.

He also said that LinkedIn's app was performing better on iPhones rather than on Android devices.

LinkedIn, the social network for professionals, makes its money in three ways-advertising, subscriptions and hiring solutions, which allows recruiters to post jobs and locate "passive and active candidates".
