Diabase occurs all over the canadian shield.. they are typically only 10's of metres wide, very rarely >50m's wide.. they are very young as well.. formed from the latest stages of brittle deformation.. from the diabase I have logged in drill core, there is minimal alteration of the host rock.. most diabase shows chill margins which indicates they cooled very rapidly and were not hot enough to alter the host rock... not sure where you get all this biotite nonsense from.......
