RE: Going nuclear? Even though Nunavut has declared it's self "Nuclear free". there are
signs that the Inuit organizations are encouraging exploration com-
panies to look for Urainum.ie Areva just out side Baker Lake and Lac
Cinquante ; Kivalliq Energy Corp's rich urainium deposit. Since the
Cinquante deposite is on Inuit owned land; Iuit Tunggavik Incorporated
is raking in annual cash benifits from Kivalliq Energy Corp. But will there
ever be an uraiuum mine in Nunavut; remains to be seen. It seems with
the younger generation opposition to urainum is a lot less than it was during
the protests of 20 years ago against the likes of Urangleshelshaft. I also
heard that a nuclear device the size of a refrigeator could provide energy for
an entire Hamlet for a f raction of what it costs now to provide electricty in the
arctic.
