The difference was around $40 between Australian semi soft and thermal in May according to reports from Platts and Index Mundi.

Going down the line of qualities in May... Premium hard coking: $223

Second Tier Hard Coking: $191

Semi Soft (Raven): $147

Thermal (Raven)l: $101

Raven coal is much closer to thermal quality and price than it ever will be to real coking coal, and splits the difference between the second rate coking coal and thermal. Anyone who tells you Raven coal is essential for the steel making market is... Not correct.
