The purpose of this phase 2 trial is in the math: the percentage reduction in fasting triglyceride levels (the restricted study population - a subset of the target population - is trying to remove confounding factors from the stated purpose).
The study has secondary goals, as stated - the trifecta implications...
The results of the phase 2 trial, if favourable, will not restrict the use of the drug to this "subset" of the potential target population...
Or at least that's my understanding :)
