I believe Beatty's position (10%) in Ventana was instrumental in EB having to increase the Ventana offer.  EB position in Vetas Spin Co could be payback to RB, if RB wants to purchase Vetas.

RB's pockets are not as deep as EB's.

I personally think EB's position in Vetas will result in Vetas Spin Co buying CBJ. Then EB will buy Vetas for basically peanuts.
