Interior Dept. identifies 23 renewable power projects as priority
Feb 11, 2013
The U.S. Department of the Interior announced recently it has identified 23 solar, wind and geothermal power projects that it plans to push through the permiitting process over the next two years.
Of the 23 projects that will be given priority for permitting, 14 are solar-powered projects, six are wind-powered projects and three are geothermal-powered projects. The projects have the combined capacity of around 5,300 MW of electricity.
The announcement continues a push to build more renewable power projects on federal land. The 23 projects were chosen because they could receive a record of decision authorizing them by the end of 2013 or 2014.
