The majors ... seem to know Kurdistan is the place to be for on-shore oil.
As I accumulate Hess I learn that:
Hess has made Kurdistan one of only 5 world-wide focus areas; see their latest presentation from 9/6/12 on their website
We know that Exxon, Murphy Oil, Marathon, and Chevron have also dipped their toes here also.
Obviously TLM too.
It has been frustrating for the juniors .....
The TSX-V has been one disaster after another
That being said, I had one of my staff search my National Bank Financial database today and the results were quite interesting (they had fantastic coverage of WZR until it wad dropped in 2010/2011)
And not that this is new news, but as recall:
The printouts showed me that:
The stock was trading as low as .335 after the S-1 blowup, and as high as $2.77 as results from K-1 were awaited
JS should be calling this a buy again soon, looking at my JS database ... he sees this as a 3-5 year investment ... recommending from time to time to pick up cheap shares at the opportunity presents itself
(Hey .99 to even $1.50 his current target isn't bad, do the math-)
Back to National Bank financial ..........In other words, when the stock was truly a speculation (and perhaps with a cash balance close to today's),
and had nothing concrete going for it, the stock traded in the $1 + range, and often between .70 and $1.87 from time to time ...
From a price/historical viewpoint .... today's .99 represents an extremely good value, in a witless world/market when considering what has been accomplished exploration wise since those two aforesaid highs and lows ....
I must reconsider:
Canadafox, Kegman, Clinch76 and others are probably right .... a resolution one way or another is bound to happen-
(I was wrong when I said TLM would bail-the fact that they are not bailing is another sign of value here with WZR)
A compromise will happen if neither side wants either a civil war (worse case scenario), or Iraq does not want to risk a Kurd breakway, which could inspire other regional breakways. ....
Thus, I think we may be on the verge of something dramatic, with the US, Kurds, Iraq, and Turkey working on something .... I have a hunch (like Nexen in 2012?? LOL)
At the very least, the budget needs to be passed and funds allocated
Exports soon to resume ...
The pipeline to Turkey is another potential catalyst ...
Controlled measured buys at these or lower levels seem prudent at this time ...imo
If I can get shares at .80. or .90 ........even better
ulysess
PS
Nexen closed today. All shareholders in US could see cash in their accounts as early as tomorrow.
CDN shareholders a few days later I am told
(Yes, I am like a restless, unpredicatable and contradictory shark swimming in the investment sea, trolling for the best opportunities at the right time, and the right place-
A junk investment in my mind in late 2012, can become the best investment right now-
Thus, with capital flush and glowing in the light of Nexen: I seize shares of Hess, TLM, and WZR for capital gains in 2013)
