Job Description

Our client, aCanadian company focused on the international acquisition and development of potash assets, has an immediate opening for a Chief Operating Officer of a Potash Project, in Ethiopia. The COO’s primary objective is to manage all activities related to the company in Ethiopia and other jurisdictions with a strong background in either solution mining or potash processing. The COO should provide leadership and guidance and implement the changes necessary in the company to transition from exploration through development and mine construction to production.

Responsibilities include managing all external consultants engaged by the Company to compile the BFS, direct scheduling and planning of the construction of the processing plant, the brine field and evaporation ponds and developing a strong team to engage and oversee all aspects of the project.

Desired Skills & Experience

The successful applicant for the role of Chief Operating Officer will be an excellent leader with the energy to undertake this very demanding role. The successful applicant will possess a calm and flexible leadership style and good organisational skills, stemming from an operational background. The COO will have African or at least developing world experience, and strong communication and cultural skills in order to deal with multiple nationalities and develop and maintain dialogue with government ministries and government officials.
