ProShares Short SmallCap600 T.SBB

Primary Symbol: SBB

The investment seeks daily investment results that correspond to the inverse (-1x) of the daily performance of the S&P SmallCap 600 Index. The fund invests in financial instruments that ProShare Advisors believes, in combination, should produce daily returns consistent with the funds investment objective. The index is a measure of small-cap company U.S. stock market performance. It is a float-adjusted, market capitalization-weighted index of 600 U.S. operating companies selected through a process that factors in criteria such as liquidity, price, market capitalization, financial viability and public float. The fund is non-diversified.

RE: Am I Crazy or is SBB a No-Brainer?

RE: Am I Crazy or is SBB a No-Brainer?

Thanks for the well-written post ZNZ - my analysis is similar, the market seems to be saying that Hackett River isn't worth much of anything.  My sense is that the PMs will be above the 2011 highs by 2017, in which case you'd do very well to buy here, but that's not a bet to risk the farm on, even if you have the stomache for the volatility.  The strategy that you mentioned, buying in tranches, is psychologically useful, since you can watch the price swoon and be happy for the chance to pick up more.  And if you end up having to buy higher, well, congrats, you caught the low!  That's my strategy as well but I'm going very, very slowly, as I see no sign that we are out of the deflationary undertow yet - there are strong forces pushing in both directions, and lots of time for surprises.

Food for thought for the many suffering gold bulls out there - total us gold reserves are 8133 tons.  That's 260 million ounces, which is worth 390 billion dollars at a gold price of $1500 an ounce.  In other words, enough to cover the budget deficit for all of about 4 months.  Good luck.
