zeus55, I'm not a miner, but there may be some confusion here.

Albeit, taylorlee makes things seem more simple then they are, could it be that you're mistaking overburden, and tailings as being the same as strip ratio?

The strip ratio would be anything surrounding the ore body which consists of low grade graphite between 3% and 7%, more or less.

What is separated from the ore body to get the graphite is tailings and should not be included in the strip ratio as I understand.

Could that be what the confusion is, or am I missing something?
