new two year plansDid a little trip to the mall on the weekend. The sales staff at Best Buy, Wireless Wave and Fido all confirmed that traffic fell over a cliff the very moment the new two year plans were rolled out despite the ongoing "back to school" ads offering free this and that trying to coax new buyers (who dont want to pay $65 a month even if they can get a free iPhone, GS3 or BB10). Reps at both the Telus and Bell booths told me everything is fine, however. A number of associates of mine who were in the market for a new handset already bought before the end of July, so it seems a lot of sales were pulled forward. Now the industry in Cda is simply going to twist in the wind for many more months until we get some sort of clarifiation on new competition and/or the introduction of some more new rules to further confuse the masses. Things always end badly when the govt gets involved, which is a real shame for a niche player like BB.
