It's a tough time in the market for juniors trying to raise money (or anyone trying to raise money, for that matter)...that normally means it's a good time to be a buyer (if you've got the money), bad time to be a seller...
As to why they decided to sell, we can only speculate. Maybe they felt they had all their developed and undeveloped reserves fully booked and they were running out of prospects. Maybe several key management guys wanted out. Or maybe they felt they could just "test the market", not understanding that it's a one way street. Once you start the process, you can't say "oh, the bids weren't good enough, now it's business as usual".
