Richard attended SAIT for petroleum engineering technology and then operated a gas plant for Conoco Phillips for 1 year. Richard then worked for Sperry Sun for 5 years in the field on the Directional Drilling side. Richard moved on to work for Halliburton Drill Bits and Services for 4 years as a senior technical professional in optimization, working on bit designs. Richard currently works as a drilling technologist for Sinopec Daylight, a position he has held for 1 year.
