Strikes me that there 2, maybe 3, probable reasons for the addition of Dr. Nelson to the Board at this time:

1) needed a N.A. based QP for the purposes of signing off on the evaluations of projects being considered for addition to the RI portfolio, whether those might come in the form of a company or a property.

2) the possibility that Dr. Nelson is not entirely arm's length from a project the company is currently looking at or expects to be able to do a deal on.

3) Dr. Nelson is not arm's length to someone or something that will be needed to close a near term deal or needed to act upon progressing a deal rapidly once enacted. Financing vehicle or something of that sort maybe.

Only time will tell, but I don't see a lot of reasons for this addition, no matter what Dr. Nelson's credentials are, at this particular point in time unless there is something near term he is connected to.
