Re: Porter
To Porter Supporters:
Thank you to everyone who attended the City of Toronto town hall about Porter Plans on Monday evening. It was encouraging to see a strong showing of supporters in the room.
This was the first public meeting that included all three signatories to the agreement that governs the operation of the airport. The involvement of the City, Transport Canada and the Toronto Port Authority is required to ensure that city staff can address the items raised in their report.
City staff also provided an update on timing. It is now likely that the city’s Executive Committee meeting scheduled for February 4 will not include a detailed review of Porter’s proposal. Instead, a special meeting will be called for March at the request of city staff. A full vote by city council would then happen on April 1.
This updated timeline is a good sign that the three parties are making progress on a plan for the future of Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport that includes the use of the CS100 whisper jet so that Porter can offer you more destinations at affordable fares.
I sincerely appreciate your ongoing support and will keep you updated on our progress.
Best regards,
